Dr. Shaheena C. Anene, MD

Shaheena Anene, MD, is a general pediatrician who provides medical care for children up to 18 years of age. Caring for brand new families with newborns brings joy to Dr. Anene as she empowers parents with a full understanding of care options. Dr. Anene feels especially privileged to care for children with developmental delays and special needs. She advocates for healthier food options, education equality and mental health solutions in addition to the medical treatments they need.

A military child, Dr. Anene considers Kaiserslautern, Germany, to be her hometown. In San Angelo, Texas, she earned a Bachelor of Science in biology with a double minor in chemistry and German at Angelo State University. She went on to earn a Master of Medical Science degree at University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, followed by a medical degree at American University of the Caribbean. Dr. Anene loved Shreveport when she came here for her pediatrics residency at LSU Health Sciences Center and decided to stay. She is certified in pediatrics (American Board of Pediatrics) and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP).

Dr. Anene and her husband enjoy walking their three dogs, Copper, Penny and Louie. She also enjoys working puzzles and keeping freshwater aquarium fish.
